Getting started
- What is Kudos?
- Kudos is a free to-do list app for iPhone and Android. Finished tasks earn XP, opening the app keeps a daily streak going, and the people who follow you can see what you get done and cheer you on.
- Is Kudos free?
- Yes. Kudos is free on iPhone and Android, there is nothing to buy inside the app, and you can start without an account.
- Do I need an account?
- No. You can open Kudos and start adding tasks straight away. Following people, joining groups and the Friends ranking need an account with a username, and when you make one your tasks come with you.
- How do I sign in?
- With an email address or Google on either platform, and with Apple on iPhone.
- What devices does Kudos work on?
- iPhone and iPad on iOS 26 or later, and Android 8.0 or later. There is no web or desktop app.
- What languages is Kudos available in?
- The apps are in English.
- Is this the same Kudos as the smart wallet or the workplace recognition app?
- This Kudos is a to-do list app. It has no connection to the Kudos smart wallet or the Kudos employee recognition platform, which are separate companies that share the name.
Tasks and XP
- How does XP work?
- Every task has a size, and each size is worth double the one before it: Moment 1, Quick 2, Short 4, Session 8, Big 16 and Feat 32. Here is how the sizes work.
- Can I change how much a task is worth?
- Yes. Kudos reads the size from the task's title, and you can pick a different one in the task's edit sheet. Your choice stands.
- Can tasks repeat?
- Yes. A task can repeat on a schedule as a routine, and you can skip a single day without touching the rest.
- What are Life Areas?
- Every task belongs to one area of life: Body, Mind, Work, Home, People, Play or Other. Kudos reads the area from the title, and your profile shows how your finished tasks divide between them.
- Does Kudos work offline?
- Yes. Your board opens where you left it, and anything you add, tick or change is kept on your phone and sent when the connection comes back.
- What if I delete a task by mistake?
- An undo appears right after you delete it. After that, deleted tasks stay in Recently deleted, in Settings, for 30 days.
Streaks and rankings
- What keeps a streak alive?
- Opening the app. A streak counts the days you turn up, not the days you finish everything on your list.
- What happens when I lose a streak?
- Kudos shows you the days that were missed and asks you to pick a small commitment of three, five, ten or fifteen days, then you start again.
- How do the rankings work?
- Every ranking in Kudos runs on XP earned this calendar week, Monday through Sunday. There is a Friends board, a Global board, and one inside each group.
- Can I stay off the Global ranking?
- Yes, with one switch in Settings under Privacy. You can still read the board, and Friends and group rankings keep counting you.
Friends and groups
- What is a kudos?
- One tap of applause on something somebody finished. It is the app's namesake, and it lands in their notifications.
- What is a nudge?
- A push notification you send somebody to say you've noticed they've gone quiet. There's a cooldown, so nobody gets buried in them.
- How do people join a group?
- The owner can add people or create an invite link, and the owner can reset or turn off that link at any time.
Privacy and your account
- Who can see what I finish?
- You decide. In Settings you choose who can see your profile and your activity, and you can stop sharing completions to the feed. Any single task can also be marked Private.
- Does a private task still earn XP?
- Yes. Other people see "Private Task" in place of its title, and its XP still counts toward your goals and rankings.
- Can I block or report somebody?
- Yes. Both are on the person's profile. Blocking stops them messaging you directly and removes each of you from the other's feeds, and a report is filed without telling them.
